  • Re: Brackish Water for Small-Scale Evaporative Cooling

Ehh, who knew "wood wool" and excelsior were the same thing? The first illustration here shows a typical. Many of the problems involved are solved in this design by using a constantly refreshed supply of water, drawing through the wood wool so the salts that evaporate out stay on the wool.

  • Re: Rotary Heat Exchangers - Shearing and Centrifugal Force

Hi, if you use ambient air for heating you are wasting a lot of cold that should be used to cool down the air to be liquefied. So change your system design. As the cooling down will need previous drying of air (have a look on absorption dryers) your problem will evaporate. If still you s...

  • Re: Hydrothermal Energy is Now a Reality

I don't like the idea of water that may flash to steam inside a porous material. Also, any chance to keep one side of the pipe dry, is far cheaper than wetting it on purpose. The problem is the temperature and pressure in the presence of chlorides. I believe a traditional closed lloop syst...

  • Re: Exploding Transformers?

With the possible exceptions of a few fans, a few monitors, and probably Air Conditioning units, all of the rack units are powered by self adjusting transformers/rectifiers. The 5 % low supply voltage probably meets their requirements/design. Large fans may be at or under their design. The AC un...

  • Re: Geothermal Heat Pumps

I think you've gotten some very good information. I've thought about a device such as you have described for years, run the numbers, and decided it might be possible, although not necessarily practical. With real-world idealized efficiencies and a COP of 4.5 or so I managed to design the world'

  • A/C Evaporator Coils Leaking?

Hello everyone, I recently bought a house and during the inspections the A/C inspector determined that the evaporator coil on the central unit is leaking and in his report said that the refrigerant reading is low. I had another company come out after buying the house to look at it and he read

ENCON Evaporators
Drum Evaporators

The ENCON Drum Evaporator completely encapsulates a 55-gallon drum of water and heats it from the outside, thereby eliminating contact of heating elements with the wastewater. This makes the ENCON Drum Evaporator appropriate for de-watering waste streams with high solids loading including water based inks, paints, lapping solutions, etc..

ENCON Evaporators
ENCON Drum Evaporators Handle Small Waste Streams

ENCON Drum Evaporators are the perfect solution for small volume wastewater streams. The DE-2 can handle 200 gallons per week, the DE-4 handles 400 gallons per week. These systems are electrically heated and can operate in batch or the optional auto-fill mode. The ENCON Drum Evaporator completely encapsulates a 55-gallon drum of wastewater and heats it from the outside, thereby eliminating cont...
