Cleanroom Supplies and Accessories

Cleanroom supplies and accessories include garments, flooring, lighting, ducting and other items used in cleanroom settings. Cleanroom garments are made of polyester, polypropylene, or cotton and should not shed fibers or particulate matter. They include caps, coveralls, gloves, head covers, hoods, lab coats, masks, overshoes, pants, shirts, shoe covers, smocks, stat coats and two-piece jump suits. Sterile cleanroom garments are designed for aseptic filling and compounding applications. They should be changed upon entry or on a daily basis. Process-only cleanroom garments are designed for use with Class I, II, or III medical devices and should be changed daily or weekly. Bioclean garments are worn by cleanroom technicians who perform tableting operations or primary and secondary packaging functions. These cleanroom supplies and accessories should be changed daily and may include protective features. Protective cleanroom garments are designed for medical and pharmaceutical applications and should be changed per session.

Some companies that provide cleanroom supplies and accessories specialize in cleanroom flooring, static control flooring, or raised access flooring. Cleanroom floors are designed to support workers and equipment, permit the flow of clean air, ground electrical systems, and eliminate the buildup of electrostatic discharge (ESD). There are three basic types of products: perforated, solid, and grated. Traditional cleanroom flooring is made of die-cast aluminum. As a rule, cleanrooms with partial air-filtration coverage require fewer perforated tiles and can use more solid panels. Static control floors and static dissipative floors are cleanroom supplies and accessories that are made of chemically-resistant vinyl and impregnated with carbon. Typically, vinyl cleanroom flooring is laid over an electrical grounding pad. Steel understructures can be used to provide vibration control and additional support for production equipment.

Cleanroom supplies and accessories include cleanroom lighting. In non-laminar flow cleanrooms, recessed lighting fixtures are arranged in a grid or flange configuration. In laminar flow environments, the entire ceiling consists of high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters. Cleanrooms for semiconductor processing use two types of lighting: teardrop and flow-through. Teardrop lighting is shaped like an airfoil and mounts to a T-shaped grid. Flow-through lighting mounts under the HEPA filter. Food processing cleanrooms use stainless steel on all exposed parts. In photosensitive applications, an amber lens can be used to screen out specific wavelengths of light. Other types of cleanroom supplies and accessories include wipes, fans, and tapes.
