About Machining Oil, Cutting Fluid and Coolant Filters

Machining oil, cutting fluid and coolant filters are industrial filtration products used in metal processing applications to improve machine performance, product quality, and equipment life (i.e., maintenance schedule, repairs). They are used with lathes, grinding machines, machining centers and many other types of machine tools and manufacturing and processing equipment. Machining oil, cutting fluid and coolant filters are made of woven or non-woven materials, and are designed to filter emulsions, mists, micro-mist, smoke, and vapors from soluble oils, machine oils, mineral oils, and synthetic fluids. Applications include water filtration in the chemical processing, food processing, and glass manufacturing industries.

Specifications for machining oil, cutting fluid and coolant filters include flow rate range, filtration level, and number of stages. Typically, flow rate range is measured in liters per minute. Filtration level is specified in microns. Machining oil, cutting fluid and coolant filters also vary in terms of number of stages, and may feature a modular design that allows integration with pre-filtration and post-filtration equipment. In general, single-stage filters are smaller and less expensive than multi-stage filters. Often, single-stage products are used with devices such as air compressors and lathes. Double-stage filters are used in a two-step filtration process which removes magnetic particles from an industrial fluid, and then passes the liquid through a fabric filter. Pre-filtration stages for machining oil, cutting fluid and coolant filters can be either magnetic or fabric.
