Dispensing Valve Systems

Dispensing valve systems are designed to provide precise fluid dispensing depending on applications. There are different types of precision dispensing valve including diaphragm valves, micro-dispensing valves, needle or spool dispensing valves, pinch valves, spray valves, or positive displacement precision valves.

Diaphragm and micro-dispensing valves are two types of dispensing valve systems. Diaphragm dispensing valve systems receive pressure, forcing it to allow materials through the fluid body and out the dispensing tip. Micro-dispensing valves have a micro-liner and nano-liter dispensing capabilities. They often have interfaces for circuit board integration.

Needle or spool, and pinch precision dispensing valves are also available. Needle or spool dispensing valves release fluid when an activator acts on a piston, which shifts the needle or spool into an open position. Pinch valves are precise valves that use occlusion to direct the movement of the media.

Other types of precision dispensing valve systems include spray valves and positive displacement valves. Spray precision dispensing valves spray media, especially viscous fluids, onto a target area. Positive displacements valves provide fluid dispensation depending on the application. They function by opening quickly, releasing the product, and closing again.

The dispensed output can be a bead, dot, flat spray, round spray, or fill (potting). The type of dispensing pattern from precision dispensing valves is determined by valve design and is dependent on dispensed fluid properties. 

Each output or pattern from Dispensing valve systems has specifications that are applicable to the shape.  Dot outputs have a specifiable diameter and operating frequency. The dot size diameter is specified in mils and the operating frequency in dots per minute. Round spray outputs have a specifiable diameter and spray frequency. The spray diameter of precision dispensing valves is specified in mils and the frequency in cycles per minute.  Flat spray or bead outputs have a width range and bead or spray frequency. 

Dispending valve systems or bead width is specified in mils and the frequency in cycles per minute. Fill outputs have a minimum shot size, a maximum flow rate, a maximum fill operating frequency and repeatability. The minimum shot size is specified in cubic centimeters, the maximum flow rate in milliliters per minute, and the maximum fill operating frequency in cycles per minute.  Repeatability is specified as a percentage.
