Specialty Solids Processing Equipment

Specialty solids processing equipment includes machines and other devices used in the production of solids and powders. This category includes powder mills, crushers, dryers, agglomeration equipment, compactors and presses.

Specialty solids processing equipment and wear components is used in pharmaceutical, plastics, and chemical manufacturing, as well as in certain recycling applications where materials are dewatered and compressed or pelletized for safe disposal. Specialty solids processing equipment can also include powder processing equipment such as mills, blenders, emulsifiers, sifters, separators and sieves, and bulk storage tanks. Powder processing equipment is commonly used to refine materials used in chemical, food, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. A powder mill can also be used in dairy and soybean processing, to create powders for use in other food products.

Solids processing wear components includes girnding mill liners, cone mill parts, jaws, jaw crusher plates, rolls, hammers, impactor shoes and anvils, impeller bars, beaker bars, pins, discs, curtain liners, skirt liners, clinker breaker parts, shredder grates, feed rolls, chute or tube liners, doors, gates, internal liners and wear plates.

Specialty solids processing equipment typically includes the handling of bulk or aggregate solids. Bulk solids are processed by breaking them down into smaller pieces by mixing or crushing. Crushers are specialty solids processing equipment used to reduce solids in size by using rotating blades, pins, jaws, wear liners, or rods to churn the solids and break apart lumps. Compactors are a type of agglomeration equipment used to increase the size of the solids rather than break them down. Compactors or granulators are used to press powdered materials into sheets or bricks by using mechanical pressure. Compactors or mechanical presses typically use a dry process where other types of specialty solids processing equipment may use a wet process. Agglomeration equipment such as mixers and pelletizers may use a liquid binder to encourage the solids to accrete or form balls.

Specialty solids processing equipment also includes machinery or machine components for drying out wet materials. Many types of equipment such as granulators or compactors also include dryers to finish the material process and prepare it for disposal. Dryers may also be stand alone machines such as belt conveyor dryers or drum dryers.
