Foundry equipment and foundry supplies comprise the heavy machinery needed to work with hot and molten metal and the casting items needed to cast the metal into specific shapes or products. Casting supply items include chemical compounds used to bind alloys, as well as sands for making molds. A metal foundry may specialize in making items of a particular metal, such as iron or steel, and have furnaces or other foundry equipment and supplies dedicated to these processes. In casting, the molten metal is poured into a mold made of casting sand and allowed to solidify. Casting sand may be oil-based or water-based. Water-based sand is known as casting green sand, a moist mixture of sand and clay.

Foundry equipment and foundry supplies include materials and machines such as investment casting machines and injection molding machinery. Investment casting, also known as lost wax casting, describes the process of making an object out of wax or some other thermoplastic material. The wax object is coated in layers of refractory slurry or other heat-resistant substance. The object is fired in a furnace, melting the wax and leaving the shell or mold behind. Injection molding involves the use of pressure to inject molten metal into molds. Injection molding supply and foundry molding supply companies provide materials such as metals and alloys, mixers, heaters, debinding and sintering equipment.
