Specialty Coating Machines and Applicators

Specialty coating machines and applicators include unlisted, patented, proprietary or other highly specialized equipment or components for applying coatings. Specialty coating equipment is designed for a specific application and/or uses specialized or proprietary technology. Specialty coating machines and applicators are used to apply organic, inorganic, or metallic coatings onto part surfaces for specialty industrial applications. Examples of specialty coating machines and applicators include dip-spin applicators, fluidized beds, immersion coating equipment, impregnating equipment, doming resin machines, and porosity sealers. Other types of specialty coating machines and applicators are also available.

Dip-spin applicators, immersion coating equipment, fluidized beds, and impregnating equipment are common types of specialty coating machines and applicators. With dip-spin coating machines, the part is dipped into a tank filled with coating media. The excess coating is then removed by spinning the part. When finished, the parts from the dip-spin are moved onto a conveyor belt for curing. Immersion coating machines and applicators also use a dipping process; however, the excess coating media drips off the part and back into the tank. Fluidized beds are specialty coating machines and applicators that blow air through a porous bed or screen to suspend coating particles to form a fluidized bed. Heated parts are inserted into the fluidized bed, and powder coating particles stick onto exposed surfaces. Impregnating equipment uses vacuum, pressure, or wicking techniques to drive coating materials into parts. These specialty coating machines and applicators are designed for specialty sealing or filling. They are also used for impregnating the porous surfaces of metal castings, stator windings, transformers, and open-porosity powder metal parts.

Other types of specialty coating machines and applicators include doming coating machines and porosity sealers. Doming resin coatings are applied by specialty coating machines and applicators to form domed layers over labels, markings, and decorative features. With doming coating, a clear resin forms a flattened, hemispherical dome that cures and protects the underlying details while maintaining or enhancing visibility. Sealing porous surfaces requires a sealant with a high viscosity or gel-like consistency. Other unlisted types of specialty coating machines and applicators are also available from many suppliers and manufacturers.
