Back in the 50s, CeramTec introduced the first SPK® cutting ceramics
for machining cast iron, the legendary RK 1. Ever since, they have been
developing new grades such as oxide, mixed and silicon nitride ceramics
and moving into new fields of application. With coatings, Cermets and
polycrystalline boron nitride WURBON®, they have rounded off the
range of cutting materials for high-performance machining.
CeramTec’s SPK® cutting materials permit the use of cutting and machining
speeds that are not achievable with other tool materials. Given appropriate
operating conditions and an application technology adapted to the SPK®
product's characteristics, these CeramTec materials have the potential
for enhancing productivity and process reliability in industrial machining
environments.
CeramTec bases your custom designed-solutions on over a century of applications and
materials technology experience. Contact CeramTec North America for the highest
quality, best performing ceramic components for your application!
