Process equipment consists of processing, manufacturing, handling, inspecting, storing, and transporting raw materials and finished products. Process equipment may also consist of extruding, casting, forging, compacting, heat-treating, molding, rolling or other process equipment and components used for metals, polymers or other materials.
Process equipment companies manufacture components and equipment used in liquids-solids separation, food processing, chemical processing, pulp and paper, wastewater treatment, and other process industries.
Process equipment manufacturers develop equipment such as adhesive dispensers, blenders, compacting powder equipment, conveyers, crucibles, crushers, dispensing valves, dust collectors/ separators, feeders, fluid spraying equipment, industrial balers, industrial compactors, industrial mixers, isostatic presses, magnetic separator components, mills, particle enlargers, packaging and bagging machines, process dryers, separators, classifiers and screeners, solids feeders, static mixers, tableting presses and thermal solids processing and other process equipment.
Process equipment such as industrial mixers serve to put liquid in motion in order to achieve homogeneity of composition and avoid the sedimentation process. They are driven by auxiliary equipment, such as a shaft, speed reducer or electric motor, to provide mixing action. They function by forcing sediment to flow in one direction and overcome the resistance during a liquid circulation flow in open reservoirs, ditches and canals. This is a critical application for process equipment.
Process equipment known as solids feeders transfer powders, granular materials or other bulk materials to or from process units, storage bins, conveyors or product packaging. The devices may consist of gravimetric or volumetric feeders, dischargers, fillers, loaders, and specialized solids handling valves or bin activators. Bin activators and dischargers break up bridging to enable bulk material flow. Solids feeders and solids valves mechanical dispense powders or control solids flow rate. Solid feeders play an important role in the process equipment industry.
Process equipment such as crushers and mills reduce solid chemicals, materials and other solid products to a desired particle or aggregate size range in dry or wet (slurry) forms. Industrial mills are also utilized for mixing or dispersing solids in liquids. Feed size, material and hardness are some of the factors utilized in selecting the proper crusher or mill. Types of crushers and mills include: ball or media mills, cone and gyratory crushers, disk attrition mills, colloid and roll mills, screen mills and granulators, hammer and cage mills, pin and universal mills, impact mills and breakers, jaw crushers, jet and fluid energy mills, roll crushers, disc mills, and vertical rollers and dry pans. The food industry is a key user of process equipment.
Process equipment known as fluid dispensing equipment includes all manner of devices that dispense, mix and dispense, or mix, meter and dispense fluid media. Some examples include adhesives out of syringes, caulk out of handheld guns, and detergents out of a sanitation station. It also includes equipment to precisely dispense media in an accurate repetitive manner controlled by a microprocessor and/or robotic machine. Fluid dispensing equipment can be configured in a dispense only, mix and dispense, meter, mix and dispense or hot melt dispense applications. A dispense only unit is designed to dispense only. It does not mix, nor does it have any monitoring capabilities. This includes manual and power driven dispensers. Mix and dispense units mix two or more items at a determined ratio and then dispense. Meter, mix and dispense units meter, mix and dispense items with a determined mix ratio and shot size. Hot melt dispense units melt a media from a solid form and dispense as a liquid., for example, a hot glue gun. Important specifications for fluid dispensing equipment include dispense rate, media viscosity, and container size, shot size or volumetric quantity the dispenser can produce in a single cycle and metering accuracy.
